In every career, what is mostly seen as a paramount pre-requisite is education. The popular argument that not all who go to school are educated is after all true to a great extent. This is because getting educated is not paying the school fee or wearing the uniform. It is all about acquiring the required basic knowledge and formal training in a specific field. As such, fashion industry is one of such.

The public has grown so obsessed with fashion industry in time past as a result of its lucrative growth. Instant popularity is at hand if one have the right combination of everything, that is, the right choice of endorser, right choice of fashion ideas, innovative and creative sense of fashion and the likes, with the current level of market trend it is not doubt that fashion is where money is.

Fashion schools provide guidance and supplemental training to drive the artist to achieve with creations, it is expected that an individual must be knowledgeable enough on the fundamentals of fashion designing and basic awareness on designing. However, this is not implication that the student must produce ramp-quality creations initially. But are expected to bring out the brilliance in simple designs and create concepts that are may have patterned on the work of some great fashion or designers of one’s own concepts.

The trend in fashion changes from time to time, a formal schooling would update you of the most recent trends and the analysis of past styles that have been recreated in the industry. An efficient fashion school could best bring out this brilliance in you and in your creations. Initially, you may be producing sub-standard concepts but this would be best set off with good learning you will acquire from a formal school.

Talent is natural, and a divinely endowed gift. There is no doubt in the fact that it is always there, probably waiting to be explored. Making use of such talent cannot be likened to that which is properly oriented to the fundamentals of channeling that talent into workable art.

Talent and education combined have proved to be the most secured foundation n one can lay on in a career pursuit, fashion, industry inclusive. Talent is an innate property that cannot be stolen. It is at the individuals discretion to allow this talent be turned into passion.

One needs to undergo formal instructions to be able to possess special features and direction toward becoming the best in the industry because talent and skills are not enough.

A fashion school will help you seek your niche. You might have creative ideas thinking in your mind that these free flowing ideas would be turned into nothing if not properly directed.

Fashion is big business, and is a multi-billion dollar industry. Over the years, more and more fashion students are considering entering fashion business school. At first glance, possibly fashion school seems a frivolous course of studies, but when you think that some haute couture designer dresses go for $20,000.00 dollars and more, you realize that there is a lot of money in fashion, and if you are dealing with any amount of money, a business course seems only reasonable.

Another excellent reason to go to business fashion school is if you are interested not just in working for another designer, but if you are interested in designing your own line. In this case, you have to know how to run your business in a business-like way. You can’t think that Gucci or Lauren went into fashion with no idea how to manage money, are have any business skills, even if they now use others to do the business end of fashion for them. It should be obvious to you that any students out there who are serious about their success should think about taking some fashion business courses.

When you are looking for a fashion business school, there are a few criteria that you should be looking for. You will want a school that has courses that not only teach the business end of the business, but one that teaches current fashion trends, and the history of fashion. A truism is that you can never know what is going to happen with fashion in the future until you know what went on in the past. Where fashion came from is just as important as where it is going. The evolution of fashion is an important trend that has great bearing upon the business of fashion today. You can see this in the repeating of styles, and the retro look that occurs nearly every year in at least one collection.

The fashion business schools should offer courses that cover all the aspects of fashion, from project to production. The commercialization and distribution of garments should be covered, as well as all aspects of retail. The product of fashion will be studied; including how long the trend is speculated to last, and what the next trend will be. Market trends and customs are also important aspects to know, and of course, market demands must be met.

The Business school should also teach about fabrics, quality control, collections and how to control costs. Communication and promotion are also important subjects for an all rounded study.

At the completion of the course, you should know not only how to take your projects from start to finish but how to collaborate with others on the various aspects of all stages of fashion and design

So if you are considering a career in fashion, you should be aware that it is not only the designing aspect of fashion that is important, and any school that you are considering should also teach the business end. You will need to learn all aspect of the fashion industry, from the design to the clothing, the marketing, retailing and promotion. If you know all of these things you will be able and confident to handle all aspects of the fashion industry. This will help not only your career with the company you work for, but for yourself when and if you decide to head out on your own with your own designs and collections.

So a fashion business and design school is and excellent idea for any student that who is interested in getting into the industry. If you love designing, but don’t know anything about fashion design or fashion business, then you should definitely consider going to a Fashion Business School.

Okay, so it may sound a little funny but fashion business school is something that many fashion students are looking into now more than ever. Their school does sound a bit ludicrous, but if you consider the reasons why people attend school in the first place the idea of fashion and business together only make sense.

These degrees are about learning the ins and outs of the business and refining your skills whereas business courses are for people who want to manage or start one of their own. For those out there already attending school, it is a safe assumption to say that many of them dream of having their own line some day. A fashion line is a business, and that is where fashion business school courses can come into play.

Who Needs Business School…Right?

Who cares if you are a pro at making A-line dresses fit even the sloppiest of figures if you can’t run your business properly? It is insane to think that so many people are failing to consider the vital role that this business industry plays in their chosen field.

What would the industry be if it weren’t for fashion business schools? If nobody knew how to run a business there would be no Versace, no Louis Vuitton or Donna Karen. Fashion in itself is a business, and those students out there who are serious about their success will put some consideration into fashion school business courses.

Deciding if Business School is Right for You

It is important to realize that while it may seem like common sense, not all schools are going to offer courses in business. School courses are designed for one thing or another, but not always both. Find out what type of coursework your chosen school offers and see if you can get some good courses in it in while you are in attendance.

This means that not only will you be able to learn everything that you have ever needed to know about the industry, but you can also learn the ins and outs of it as well and how to handle certain things that your business may throw at you. If you become a millionaire you can hire a manager but in the meantime, you are going to have to learn something or other about business in this industry. School may be the way to help you do just that.

About one fourth of all fashion designers are self-employed, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics. If you’re training yourself, you should have a strong educational base. But where do you start?

A number of online schools offer degrees in fashion design, merchandising, marketing, retail, and related careers. Between admissions requirements, coursework, and other facts, it’s a lot of information to wade through. Use this simple guide when choosing the perfect school for your needs.

Fashion School Admissions Requirements

So you’re ready to go back to school, but are you sure you can get in? Admissions requirements vary by school, but most online schools have the following requirements for associate’s or bachelor’s degree seekers:

Student holds a high school diploma, GED, or similar

Student is a citizen or permanent resident of the United States, or holds a valid visa

Student must pass the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) or similar if he or she is a non-native speaker of English

Some states require immunization records and specific test results. Be sure to check with your prospective schools for more details.

Choosing an Online Fashion School

How do you pick the school that’s right for you? You might have already ruled out traditional campuses in favor of online schools that offer more flexibility in scheduling. From there, learn more about coursework requirements, financial aid potential, and educational accreditation before you pick one school.

Online Fashion Design School Coursework

The coursework you complete traditionally depends heavily on the online fashion design school you choose, your specific degree, and the coursework available to you. Here are just a few popular courses offered across different fashion majors.

Fashion Merchandising Coursework

Fashion merchandising coursework may include the following:

Fashion Show Production

Apparel Analysis

Visual Merchandising and Display

Math for Merchandisers

Fashion Design Coursework

A fashion design degree program could mix technical and business oriented courses such as the following:

Advanced Flat Pattern

Fashion Illustration

Fashion Entrepreneurship

Trouser Moulage

Technical Design Coursework

Advanced technical classes in design could include the following:

o	Computerized Pattern Grading

o	Techniques of Fit

o	French Pattern Drafting General courses in textiles and the history of fashion may likely be preferred or required for all majors. In general, courses in marketing, merchandising, or retail may be more likely to involve business elements, while the fashion design degree may steer more towards technical and artistic courses.

Choose an Online Fashion School with Confidence

The Bureau of Labor Statistics reports that competition for fashion design jobs is expected to be keen. For you and other new designers, that means a degree could mean the difference. A little bit of research can go a long way in the educational world. Choose a degree or certificate program that works for you and you should enjoy the satisfaction of knowing you made the right choice.

Fashion Design programs in Pennsylvania?

I live in South Central Pennsylvania (very close to the border of Maryland), and I am interested in going to school for Fashion Design (not fashion marketing or merchandising). It seems all of my searches for schools that offer this program bring up the same list: The Art Institute, Moore College, Drexel University, UArts, and some other technical institutes that don't even offer Fashion Design. Does anyone know of anyone schools in Pennsylvania that offer a Fashion Design program? Northern Maryland and POSSIBLY Western Jersey are possibilities for me, too. I'd like to commute, but I understand that may not be possible. Also, as I've already spent quite a bit of money on school, I really am looking for an affordable option. So far it seems that only the Art Institute of Philadelphia (which would cost $43,000 for just two years!) is the least expensive option I've found. Anyway, mostly I'm just looking for schools at this point. Thanks in advance!

The internet has certainly changed the way we do things. It has completely revolutionized our way of living. It has changed the way we shop, the way we converse, and even the way we earn degrees. What was that again? Ye, the internet today is used to earn various types of degrees. One of the more popular degrees you can earn online is a degree in fashion design. Because of this, more and more online fashion schools keep emerging and keep trying to attract students.

How exactly do online fashion schools work?

Getting your degree without actually attending school is not really a new thing. In the past, this type of learning was called correspondence studies. A person would earn his degree through the mail. Basically, this is how online fashion schools work. People who want to earn their degrees do so by communicating with the instructor through the internet.

First of all, a person registers via e-mail or through a website. Students pay through credit card or by electronic transfer. Once registered, a student will be sent a manual/ workbook. He or she studies the subject through the use of this book and through other media sent by the school. The pace of learning is dictated by the student and he or she can stick to a personal schedule. This is quite convenient since most people today cannot get enough time to study. Most people who enroll in online fashion schools have jobs that they are trying to hold. Because of this, they try to take all the time that they can in order to study.

How are tests taken? Well, tests are often included in the manual and answers can be sent to the school for checking through email. Some people may question the validity of such tests as students are given ample opportunity to cheat. Because of this, online fashion schools employ another system. Some online fashion schools schedule tests to be taken by students. The test is often under time pressure and scheduled so that a student will not be able to cheat. Sometimes, an administrator may watch the student through a webcam.

It is often the case that an online fashion school will design its tests to be simple practical examinations which a student cannot cheat in. Some online fashion schools may create tests that have no standard answers. Thus, the answers to the test can be as diverse as the personalities of the students.

When you think about it, an online fashion school can create this type of test easily. This is because fashion involves the creativity of the student. If an online fashion school asks a student to submit a design of a certain article of clothing, the design that the student sends will certainly be unique. A student cannot really cheat since cheating can be easily detected.

Once you have completed all the necessary activities and once you have overcome nameless burdens, you will receive a certification from the online fashion school saying that you accomplished this or that task and now have the degree of this or that.

As you can see, online fashion schools aren’t really complicated. In fact, these schools make all our lives a little bit easier. Online fashion schools often understand the plight of the student and will help you reach the top of your ladder.

Online School Is For Kids?

Traditionally thought of as a venue for undergraduate and graduate students to pursue a degree—or for established professionals to enrich their careers—online schools are touted for their convenience, accessibility and cost-savings for busy adults. But online school programs for kids are also quickly becoming a staple in K-12 education.

As part of its action plan for the class of 2020, the State Educational Technology Directors Association (SETDA) identifies the crucial role that online schools play for children in grades K-12.

In its study, “Learning Virtually: Expanding Opportunities,” SETDA reports that as of November 2008, 44 states had online learning programs. And a 2004-2005 survey found that 37 percent of school districts provided access to online education, with public high schools showing the highest levels of online school enrollment.

Along with online schools that originate within states, online education providers, such as K12, Connections Academy and Canada’s first e-school, Linkonlearning, create curriculum for primary and secondary school children and teens. Online school programs like these typically provide a number of services:

•	a broad range of class options, including language arts, reading, math, science and social studies
•	teacher support
•	daily lesson plans for parents looking to change or supplement their child’s traditional schooling
•	fewer dropout rates by offering academic programs that meet diploma-level standards
•	programs for special needs populations
•	additional curriculum for advanced learners
•	credit recovery, which enables students to retake a course that they previously failed

As SETDA acknowledges, virtual learning is not a “one-size-fits-all” solution to educational issues. However, it does expand access to education regardless of a student’s socioeconomic status or geographic location. And it gives students the opportunity to experience individualized, self-paced learning that can engage their unique learning style and encourage them to stay in school.

How Online Schools Work for Kids

Online schools for grades K-12 can incorporate a mixture of online and traditional classroom learning or involve a purely online approach, as the following examples, taken from the SETDA study, show.

•	Full-time online publ
1000
ic school—The Arizona Connections Academy (ACA), which accepts students from anywhere in the state, offers a free public school curriculum and provides textbooks, curriculum materials, online resources, a computer and an Internet service subsidy to students. Similarly, the Ohio Virtual Academy (OHVA), which uses K12 curriculum and services, is open to students across Ohio and delivers a highly interactive and engaging online learning environment.

•	Public school with a blended online learning approach—At the Chicago Virtual Charter School, students attend class one day per week at a minimum, but rely on online learning to complete the majority of their curriculum. Typically, students have the same online and classroom teacher and study at their own pace, unless they have fallen behind in grade level. In that case, they must attend class in person an additional number of hours per week.

•	Public provider of supplemental online education—The Idaho state legislature created the Idaho Digital Learning Academy (IDLA) to increase course accessibility to students across the state. As of November 2008, 87 percent of Idaho school districts participated in IDLA, and the program offers a wide range of courses from AP Calculus to Driver Education.

•	Private provider of supplemental online education—Similar to the IDLA, the Michigan Virtual School delivers online education to students who might not otherwise have access to particular courses. The state funds this non-profit, private corporation, but the school itself does not directly grant credits or diplomas.

Pros and Cons of Online Schools for K-12 Students

States and online education providers typically offer online schools at no cost to K-12 students. And, as mentioned above, online education dramatically expands access to courses and curriculum for students. Online learning for K-12 students also provides these advantages:

•	flexible, self-paced learning
•	the chance for young students to advance technology skills
•	individualized lessons that match a student’s unique learning style
•	resources for parents to use to become more engaged in their child’s education

Additionally, online K-12 education offers an option to school districts dealing with budget cuts, and it can be a viable solution for children who need alternative education options:

•	home-schooled children
•	gifted or advanced learners
•	military family students
•	students who are involved in the arts or sports and are unable to attend traditional schools
•	children who reside in rural or remote areas
•	students who need supplemental education assistance
•	students who don’t thrive in traditional schools for a variety of reasons

But there are skeptics. A May 2009 U.S. Department of Education (DOE) review of research studies on online learning effectiveness, entitled “Evaluation of Evidence-Based Practices in Online Learning,” found only a very limited number (five) of rigorous studies on the efficacy of online learning for K-12 students as compared to face-to-face instruction. Further, the DOE indicates that policymakers should use caution in generalizing positive results of adult online learning experiences to K-12 education.

In response to the DOE analysis, some educators add that face-to-face instruction is invaluable to K-12 students. Teachers often rely on the non-verbal cues, behavior and expressions of young students to discern how well they are learning a topic. Additionally, the face-to-face interaction with peers and a caring, supportive teacher can play a significant role in a child’s social development, especially those children who might lack compassionate caregivers at home.

Online Learning for Kids in Practice

Both public and private school systems may be interested in online elementary programs as a supplement to their traditional curriculum, as a way to manage expenses, as an option for gifted
1000
or challenging students, or simply to take advantage of new technology in education.

Kids enrolled in online elementary school will become more familiar with current technologies because they have to use a computer and work with software programs. Grade school students can also receive a more personalized curriculum than in a traditional classroom where coursework caters to the majority status quo rather than to an individual’s abilities and interests.

Whether a proponent—or critic—of online grade and secondary school education, one thing is clear: technology has impacted every facet of our lives, from the way we shop to how we conduct research and gather our news. It’s no surprise that education has been affected as well. As with all technology, it’s critical to apply some diligence and oversight to be sure it’s working well for each child. Online learning continues to grow in popularity—there’s no getting around it—but the key is to use it effectively to meet the variety of needs that it can address.
